Teegarden (1852-1936) taught at the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf for nearly half a century, but perhaps his most enduring contribution was his poetry and prose written especially for other deaf people and easily translated into American Sign Language. Poet, playwright, and filmmaker Luczak--also deaf--has selected prose fiction, retellings of old tales, history lessons, and personal accounts; and poems from his published collections.
