The first half of this biographical and artistic study focuses on Mrkusich's life, the international and national contexts of his work, and the nature of his abstractionism, while the second half examines his work in-depth—providing nine chapters with color plates detailing each of the artist's major series. From his early emblem paintings and triumphant corner works of the 1960s to his broad recognition in the 1970s, this examination demonstrates how an artist from the Kaipara mudflats has produced abstract art admired around the world.
作者簡介
Alan Wright is a professor and honorary research fellow in art history at the University of Auckland. Ed Hanfling teaches in the art history department of the University of Auckland. He is a freelance writer, curator, and critic, and has been featured in Art New Zealand. They are the coauthors of Vuletic and His Circle.
