These three volumes form the middle third of a nine-volume set examining the role of the Industrial Revolution in shaping American history. While the first three volumes separately discussed iron and steel, railroads, and steam shipping, these three place their focus on three of the most important industrial sectors: textiles, mining and petroleum, and automobiles. The remaining three volumes, scheduled for 2007, will discuss agriculture and meatpacking, communications, and the Industrial Revolution as a whole.
