Working within the traditions of both education history and cultural studies, Provenzo (education, U. of Miami) explores the role of education in the construction of culture. The culture he describes is the urban and industrial America that was being created between the end of the Civil War and World War I, and the education came in the form of the three international expositions held in the US during that period. He analyzes the deliberate and perhaps unintentional educational aspects of the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition, the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893, and the 1904 St. Louis Louisiana Purchase Exposition. 作者簡介
Eugene F. Provenzo, Jr. is Professor in the School of Education at the University of Miami. He is the author or editor of over one hundred books dealing with educational policy, African American history, curriculum, computing, and the history of education.
