香港中文大學文物館為配合該館與抱一齋合辦之「疊彩：抱一齋藏中國漆器」，於二零一零年十一月二十一日召開「中國古代漆器研討會」。應邀參加的專家學者來自內地、臺灣、香港、日本以及英國、美國等地。主題演講以抱一齋藏中國漆器為專題，其他研究論文包括中國宋、元、明時期的素漆、剔犀、剔紅及螺鈿漆，亦論及個別館藏的中國漆器及相關的東亞、琉球、日本漆器等。此外還有從徽州出發窺探近現代中國漆工技藝。是書共收論文九篇，冀對中國古代漆器研究有所裨益。
The exhibition of Layered Beauty: The Baoyizhai Collection of Chinese Lacquer, co-organized by the Art Museum, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Baoyizhai, was accompanied by the Conference on Ancient Chinese Lacquer held on 21 November 2010 with scholars and experts from the Mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Britain and the United States. The keynote speech was on the significance of the Baoyizhai Collection. Various subjects of research including plain, tixi, carved red and mother-of-pearl inlaid lacquers of the Song, Yuan and Ming periods, relevant collections of Chinese lacquer in overseas museums, and also East Asian, Ryukyu and Japanese lacquers were discussed by the speakers. In addition, a lacquer master from Huizhou introduced the art of modern lacquer. This publication contains nine conference papers.
