Seibel discusses the complex sociological and political circumstances surrounding the identification and deportation of Jewish citizens from France to concentration camps in the East during the Second World War. He covers the role of the power-sharing Occupation Administration in the persecution of the Jews, the SS as a political actor in France and elsewhere, the erosion of the occupiers’ power and emergence of resistance, and a great many other related subjects.
