Dixon (international social policy, U. of Plymouth, UK) applies a behaviorist perspective on governance, in his investigation of the responses of those who are governed to those who govern them, and the counterresponses of the governors. He considers governance at three different levels corporations, societies, and the world and examines the set of belief statements certainties or truths with which the parties in a governance setting frame reality, what might happen if the parties lose confidence in their beliefs, what conditions change the beliefs, and what happens when governed and governors do not share a set of belief statements. JOHN DIXON is Professor of International Social Policy in the Department of Social Policy and Social Work at the University of Plymouth in the United Kingdom.
