Rouse-Jones, a retired academic librarian from Trinidad and Tobago, and Appiah, a legislative drafting consultant in Ghana and granddaughter of George James Christian, provide a biography of Christian (1869-1940). Originally from the Caribbean island of Dominica, he trained as a lawyer in London, participated in the first pan-African conference, and migrated to the Gold Coast in 1902, establishing a legal practice there. He was friends with James Kwegyir Aggrey, who helped establish Achimota College and School, was involved in school activities, and also served in the Legislative Council for Sekondi and as honorary consul for Liberia.
