About 15 out of every 100 Vietnam Veterans (or 15%) were currently diagnosed with PTSD at the time of the most recent study in the late 1980s, the National Vietnam Veterans Readjustment Study (NVVRS). It is estimated that about 30 out of every 100 (or 30%) of Vietnam Veterans have had PTSD in their lifetime.
From the author: "I've written four nonfiction books on PTSD, but this is my first fiction on the subject. I hope the reader gets a feel for what happens to some soldiers in combat and the aftermath that can follow them for decades after. I used a martial arts master to show that journey and its effects, even on a person who has developed a high level of discipline and mental mastery.
