Between 1971 and 1995, the Joint Expedition to Caesarea Maritima conducted an excavation of the remains of the port and city of Caesarea built by Herod the Great some 2000 years ago (located in modern-day Israel). This volume collects the results of the expedition's excavations of "synagogue" site together with related documents from the British Mandate period and preliminary reports from Hebrew University excavations conducted in 1956 and 1962. It also includes a comparative study of photographs from different study periods and plans of possible structure reconstructions. Distributed in North America by The David Brown Book Co.
