商品簡介
This guide is for public and school librarians and non-degreed library staff working with K-12 students. It can also serve as a textbook for students of library science. After an overview of national school library standards and reference services in school and public libraries, the guide gives advice on providing reference services as a developmentally appropriate practice and providing reference services to youth with special needs. Other subjects examined are information literacy, using online reference resources, and government resources for youth. Management issues, such as evaluation and marketing, are also covered. Suggestions are given for core reference collections for elementary, middle, and high school: almanacs, atlases, dictionaries, fact books, encyclopedia, and other resources. Each chapter includes a summary, exercises, scenarios, and a list of further readings, plus b&w screen shots. The book includes a glossary and an index of reference sources. Harper is professor in the School of Library and Information Science at Kent State University. Annotation c2011 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
