Enterprise Information Systems Design, Implementation and Management: Organizational Applications

Cruz-Cunha (technology, Polytechnic Institute of Cavado and Ave, Portugal) and Varajao (information systems management and software engineering, U. of Tras-os-Montes e Alto Duoro, Portugal) compile 31 papers on the creation and implementation of enterprise information systems. Papers are expanded versions of those selected from the international conference CENTERIS--Conference on ENTERprise Information Systems, held in Ofir, Portugal, in October 2009. In them, a group of researchers in engineering, technology, information systems, business, and other fields from around the world discuss the main issues, challenges, opportunities, and developments related to enterprise information systems. They include social, managerial, and organizational perspectives, with specific discussion of information systems architectures and alignment with business management support and increased competitiveness; business process modeling and supporting representation methodologies and technologies; the management and exploitation of organizational knowledge in business decision-making support; information systems and technology management methods and tools; collaborative, networked, and virtual organizations; and enterprise information systems design, application, implementation, impact, adoption, and social aspects.
