This directory will be useful for those in the healthcare industry, for vendors who supply the managed care industry, and for consumers. The book begins with state statistics and rankings on health insurance coverage and managed care organizations ranked by total enrollment and state enrollment. The bulk of the book consists of 1,183 HMO/PPO plan profiles arranged alphabetically by state. Each state chapter includes a summary chart of health insurance coverage status and type of coverage by age. After the state summary, each state chapter provides entries on plan listings, offering general contact information, key executives and direct contact, and web site URLs. Each profile also gives information on factors such as type of plan and type of coverage, financial history, average compensation, current enrollment, hospital affiliates, peer review information, and accreditation information. Appendices offer a glossary and a list of industry web sites. The directory includes plan, personnel, and membership enrollment indexes, as well as indexes of primary care and specialty physicians.
