商品簡介

作者簡介

Contributors in history, international relations, military strategy, security policy, and defense analysis explore the benefits and limitations of various options for dealing with the US military's role in Afghanistan. Most of the contributors agree that the manner in which troops are used is more important than the actual number of troops. An overview section gives background on the political situation in Afghanistan from ancient times to the present and reviews America's war in Afghanistan. Other areas discussed include the ethics of exiting Afghanistan, shaping strategic communication, and civil society. The book began as a research project funded by the Office of the Secretary of Defense. It will be of interest to policy makers, students, and military strategists. Rothstein served in the US Army as a Special Forces officer for 26 years. Arquilla is affiliated with the Naval Postgraduate School. Annotation c2012 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
