商品簡介
Intended for use in criminal justice and psychology courses, this undergraduate text treats the theory and real-life practice of criminal profiling and behavioral investigative analysis, emphasizing the importance of gathering information about the victim. The authors are skeptical about profiling approaches that rely too heavily on typologies of crimes and offenders, and instead support approaches that promote both actuarial and clinical methods. The first chapter contrasts the crime scene profiling methods of the FBI with the actuarial or database approaches used in the UK, Canada, and Australia. Later chapters examine five types of profiling: crime scene, geographic, psychological, and suspect-based profiling, and reconstructive psychological evaluation analysis. There is also coverage of profiling applied to specific crimes and profiling in court. Curt Bartol edits the journals Criminal Justice and Behavior. Anne Bartol has written other books on criminal justice. Annotation c2012 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
