Tom Peters

In 1982, at a time when management books were not commonly bestsellers, In Search of Excellence by Tom Peters (b.1942) began a three-year sojourn on The New York Times bestseller list. It was wildly popular and, of course, drew some critics. This anthology collects 46 previously published articles. A half dozen were written by Peters himself, the first of which was published in 1981 in Vital Speeches of the Day and is the earliest selection. The most recent is a 2010 article, Personal Branding 2.0 by Leigh Elmore, from Women in Business. Among the other sources: Forbes, Fortune, Journal of Management Education, and The Economist. Controversial and charismatic, Peters continues building his legacy--challenging preconceptions or frozen ideas, provoking audiences, and passionately advocating for flexible adaptation to changing conditions. The collection is not indexed. Editors John C. Wood and Michael C. Wood (U. of Notre Dame, Australia) have edited numerous books on prominent management personalities.
