Over the course of 11 chapters he proceeds through discussion of elementary probability theory, stochastic processes, the weak law of large numbers, the central limit theorem, extrema and the method of Lagrange multipliers, the matched filter for stationary noise, Fourier series and transforms, the Wiener-Khinchin theorem and applications, spread spectrum, autocorrelation and the power spectral density, and Wiener filters. The reader is assumed to have basic knowledge of calculus, the theory of functions of a complex variable, and linear algebra, although this last is reviewed in the appendix.
