Illuminating the Book: Makers and Interpreters is published in honour of Janet Backhouse, Curator of Illuminated Manuscripts at The British Library, who retired in 1998 after a 35-year career at the British Museum and Library.
Many eminent scholars and colleagues have contributed essays reflecting Janet's own research interests, particularly in the later Middle Ages and Renaissance, and in the interaction between English collectors and continental book producers.

作者簡介
Michelle Brown is Curator of Illuminated Manuscripts at The British Library. Her previous publications include The Book of Cerne (UTP 1996), and The Historical Source Book for Scribes (with Patricia Lovett, UTP 1999). Dr Scot McKendrick is a curator of Classical, Byzantine and Biblical Manuscripts at the British Library. He is series editor of The British Library Studies in Medieval Culture and Fellow of the Courtauld Institute of Art, London.
