Adams (biblical studies, Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of Christian Education, Richmond, Virginia) uses the act-consequence model to illuminate how instruction about proper behavior in the Wisdom books of the Bible was changing during the Second Temple period. He looks at Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, compares instruction in Egyptian texts and Dead Sea Scrolls, and considers Ben Sira's apologetic response. Samuel L. Adams, Ph.D. (2006) at Yale University, is Assistant Professor of Biblical Studies at Union Theological Seminary & Presbyterian School of Christian Education in Richmond, Virginia. His research interests include Wisdom literature, the Dead Sea Scrolls, and Egyptology.
