Agronomic Rice Practices and Postharvest Processing: Production and Quality Improvement addresses three important agricultural aspects of rice: physical characteristics, physico-chemical characteristics of rice, and the organoleptic aspects of rice. Divided into four parts, the book first looks at recent trends and advances for higher production and quality improvement of rice, which covers climate-resilient agricultural practices. The book looks at climatic effects, relative performance, and constraints in direct seeded versus transplanted rice of Asia, constraints in temperate rice culture, and interventions to mitigate the challenges, along with recent advances and trends in system of rice intensification (SRI).

The book then goes on to examine nutrient management for rice production and quality improvement, such as the effect of zinc on growth, yield, and quality attributes of rice for improved rice production; integrated nutrient management (INM) in transplanted rice by the pelleting technique; and the effects of different organic sources of nutrition on growth, yield, and quality of rice.

Prem Prakash Srivastav, PhD, is Associate Professor of Food Science and Technology in the Agricultural and Food Engineering Department at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (WB), India, where he teaches various undergraduate-, postgraduate-, and PhD-level courses and guides research projects.
