This book arises from a 2008 colloquium at Abersystwyth U., organized by the department of law and criminology, titled "Emerging Human Rights in the 21st Century: Sixty Years after the UDHR." Eight contributions discuss the 1948 UN declaration and human rights in connection with such topics as the Internet, the UN Security Council (the dilemma of intervention), the protection of democracy in international law, environmental protection, incarcerated offenders, indigenous rights, the rights of older people, and humanitarian aid and corruption.
