論語意解（簡體書）

【中譯文】
孔子說：“年輕人，在家要孝順父母，在外面要尊敬長輩，做人言行要謹慎而注重信用，博愛大眾，親近有仁德的人。如果做了這些還有余力，就要用來學習各種文化知識。”
【注釋】
1弟子：其含義有二：第一學生；第二年紀小的人。此處為第二種。
2出：外出，出門。一說，離開自己住的房屋。
【英譯文】
The Master(Confucius)said,A young man should behave well to his par-ents at home and to his elders abroad,He should be cautious in giving prom-ises and punctual in keeping them,He should have kindly feelingstowardseveryone,but seek the intimacy ofthe Good.If,when all that is done,he hasany energy to spare,then let him study literary culture.

子夏日：“賢賢易色；事父母，能竭其力；事君，能致其身；與朋友交，言而有信。雖日未學，吾必謂之學矣。”
【中譯文】
子夏說：“注重賢德甚于注重外表；事奉父母，能竭盡全力；事奉君王，能奮不顧身；和朋友交往，能說到做到。這樣的人即使自稱未學，我也認為他學得很好了。”
【注釋】
1子夏：姓卜，名商，字子夏。孔子的弟子。比孔子小四十四歲，生于公元前507年，卒年不詳。
2賢賢：第一個“賢”做動詞用，表示敬重，尊崇：第二個“賢”是名詞，即“圣賢’’的“賢”，指有道德有學問的高尚的人。易：輕視，不看重。一說“易”釋為“移”，移好色之心而好賢德。
3致：做出奉獻。
【英譯文】
Zi Xia said,a man who Treats his betters as betters,wears an air ofrespect,who into serving father and mother knows how to put his whole strength,whoin the service of his prince will lay down his life,who in intercourse with friendsis tree to his word though he is said to be uneducated?would certainly call himan educated man.
