MicroRNAs in Cancer

Recent research indicates that the dysregulation of microRNA expression levels is an important mechanism that triggers the loss or gain of functions in cancer cells, acting as tumor suppressors and oncogenes. Microbiologists, oncologists, and other medical specialists report research and survey the literature on microRNA and breast, endometrial, cervical, prostate, gastric, colorectal, lung, skin, and brain cancer. They also consider such topics as microRNAs as potential biomarkers and therapeutic tools in cancer, the paradigm shift in the regulation of microRNAs for potential cancer therapeutics from pathways to perturbation of gene regulatory networks, and system and network biology in personalized medicine based on microRNA.
