J. M. Mancini is a lecturer in the Department of History, National University of Ireland Maynooth, and was previously lecturer in the School of English and American Studies, University of Sussex. Her publications include Pre-Modernism: Art-World Change and American Culture from the Civil War to the Armory Show (Princeton University Press, 2005), and articles in American Quarterly, American Literary History, Critical Inquiry, Winterthur Portfolio and other journals. She has been the recipient of prizes and fellowships including the Patricia and Phillip Frost Essay Prize for the best article published in American Art, 2011; the 2008 Charles C. Eldredge Prize for Outstanding Scholarship in American Art; and a year as a Getty Fellow at the Getty Research Institute (2006-2007).

Keith Bresnahan is Assistant Professor of Design History and Theory at OCAD University in Toronto. He completed his PhD in Social and Political Thought at York University (Toronto) in 2007; from 2008-09, he was a SSHRC postdoctoral fellow at the Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design at the University of Toronto. He is currently finishing a book on architecture and the philosophy of experience in the eighteenth-century, and is in the early stages of research toward a projected book-length project on architectural destruction in Revolutionary France.
