This book investigates how liberal parties have evolved over time as a party family, in a comparative perspective. Through a discussion of the applicability of the concept of party family to liberal parties, it gives a better picture of the development, challenges and opportunities for liberal parties in Europe.
Dr. Emilie Van Haute is Associate Professor and Adjunct Director of the Centre d’Etude de la Vie Politique (Cevipol), Universite libre de Bruxelles (ULB). Her books on parties, party systems, and organisation have been published with Routledge and Brussels University Press, while her articles have appeared in Party Politics, Acta Politica, Electoral Studies, and Regional & Federal Studies.
Dr. Caroline Close is Postdoctoral Researcher at the Centre d’Etude de la Vie Politique (Cevipol), Universite libre de Bruxelles (ULB). She has written several chapters on political parties, party organization and public opinion in edited volumes with Brussels University Press (Political Science in Motion, 2016), Lannoo Campus (Decrypter l’electeur, 2015), and Routlege (Green Parties In Europe, 2015). Her articles have appeared in Acta Politica, the Journal of Legislative Studies, and Party Politics.
