A Long Climb to the Top

His Dad walked out on him when he was ten and never returned. He has a strong mother but is she strong enough? She does have a strong faith in the higher power. Will this filter down to her son? Anger problems plague his youth. He runs with a bad crowd. He excels in sports but does not know what to do with his athleticism. He has few friends, {at least good ones}. His girlfriend says she loves him but not enough. For most of his youth there was very little money. Skiing comes into his life and he finds he is an elite downhill skier but an injury sets him back.
