After working with children to build emotional and behavioral skills, I witnessed how fun mindfulness techniques brought children back to a regulated place. When we notice emotions getting big it's the perfect time for mindfulness. I worked with children to first apply this technique when dysregulated which eventually built the child's ability to recognize and anticipate when they needed a mindfulness break to self regulate.
