Disaster Deferred

This book, the first of its kind in Hong Kong, offers insights from experts in healthcare and higher education both locally and further afield. Key learnings and recommendations are presented in three sections: disaster management and reconstruction, including what we can learn from past earthquakes; the importance of healthcare and emergency medicine in disasters and community events; and the way forward, in particular how technology and systems thinking can be used for disaster mitigation.

Geotechnical Hazard Mitigations with Experiment, Theory and Practice presents the keynote lectures and general papers presented at the Fifth International ISSMGE Conference on Geotechnical Engineering for Disaster Mitigation and Rehabilitation (5th GEDMAR, Taipei, Taiwan, September 13-14, 2017). The contributions discuss rainstorm and storm surge induced riverine and coastal flooding event, liquefaction, and landslide. The coronavirus pandemic that broke out in 2019 has finally calmed down in China, after the bungling occasioned by the iron hand of lockdown. 臺灣災害管理學會於2006 月10 月28 日由國內產、官、學、研各界熱心參與災害防救相關研發與實務工作之學者專家共同籌組成立，並推舉長期推動災害防救科技研發與實務工作，現任財團法人工業技術研究院蔡清彥董事長擔任創會理事長，現任第五屆理事長為臺灣大學生物環境系統工程學系許銘熙特聘教授、秘書長張倉榮為臺灣大學生物環境系統工程學系教授兼水工試驗所主任。會員數截至2016 年11 月3 日止，共有189 位個人會員，18 個團體會員。自成立以來辦理近54 場研討會、58 場講座，包括推動籌備「921 地震十週年紀念國際學術研討會」、第二屆都市防災國際研討會（ICUDR）、The 2nd Asian Conference on Urban Disaster Reduction （2nd ACUDR 2014）等大型國際研討會。本學會以加強災害防救跨領域之互動與整合、促進災害防救學術技術與實務應用之交流、培育災害管理專業人才、提升災害防救科技水準、減輕災害損失為宗旨，歡迎各領域有志防救災相關人士加入我們的行列！
