Within this text, the contributors provide a historical perspective on the development of anthropology and sociology since their introduction to Chinese thought and education in the early twentieth century, with an emphasis on the 1930s and 1980s. 在2001年，國際勞工組織所公佈之ILO/OSH：2001職業安全衛生管理系統指引(Guidelines on Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems)，我國亦引進及推動組織內部建 構職業安全衛生管理系統。ILO/OSH：2001職業安全衛生管理系統指引係由國際勞工組織製定，其根據是國際上認可且由國際勞工組織三方代表確定的原則。這種三方性的工作方法為各類組織建立持續發展的安全文化奠定了堅實、靈活和合理的基礎。另外，我國行政院勞工委員會創新以「聯集」概念，整併國際勞工組織ILO-OSH:2001與國際驗證機構OHSAS 18001:2007二套制度之要項與優點，發布適合本國國情之「台灣職業安全衛生管理系統（Taiwan Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems, TOSHMS）」指引，並反應了我國在保護勞工安全衛生方面的價值觀和手段。「台灣職業安全衛生管理系統（Taiwan Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems, TOSHMS）」指引可以供我國所有從事職業安全衛生管理人員使用。指引沒有法律約束力，也沒有取代我國的法令、規章或標準。本系統建立目標係為防止意外事故發生及減少因意外事故造成時間、生命、財產等損失。ILO/OSH：2001／TOSHMS能應用於任可商業、組織或產業來管理其工作場所的安全衛生風險。此計畫已完成訂定符合ILO-OSH 2001/ TOSHMS與OHSAS 18001：2007職業安全衛生管理系統一階與二階程序、規範與表單，並放置於網站(http://www.iosh.gov.tw/)提供事業單位下載，期望協助企業建立相容且滿足兩標準要求文件，並符合安全衛生管理系統的要求。

The primary purpose of this book is to examine the contributions of the Malaysian Chinese community in nation-building. Attention is focused principally on the post-independence period but with justified emphasis on the earlier era that constituted the formative stage of the country as a political state. The areas and extent of Chinese contributions are multi-faceted. The present study deals with the more crucial areas that determine the vigour and durability of the Malaysian nation-state. These are identified as the economic, political and cultural aspects of life that combine to make what it is today and that will have a profound influence on its future prospects. Volume one is divided into three parts, namely, introduction, historical background, and economic perspective. Volume two will deal with nation-building from the political and cultural perspective.

Seeking truth and due responsibility for the 228 Massacre has been the long-time goal for the 228 Massacre victims and their families. It is also the pursuit of the 228 Memorial Foundation since my assumption as the foundation chairman. After the 87th board meeting on September 2003, which approved the establishment of a “228 Massacre Truth Research Task Force,” a 7-member name-list was nominated by Administrator Lee Wang-Tai. The list included academic board members Chang Yan-Hsian, Huang Hsiu-Cheng, Hsueh Hua-Yuan and Chen Yi-Shen; representative of the victims and their families Jhong Yi-Ren and Lee Rong-Chang; and Administrator Lee Wang-Tai himself. Task force members then jointly suggested board member Chang Yan-Hsian to serve as the team’s convener. In a bid to avoid overlap with that of the 228 Massacre Research Report issued by the Executive Yuan on 1992, Administrator Lee proposed during the 88th board meeting to have the task force’s research report be named: Research Report
