Sir Robert Ho Tung (1862–1954) is a compelling figure in Hong Kong history. This book, Chiang Yee and His Circle: Chinese Artistic and Intellectual Life in Britain, 1930–1950, celebrates the life and work of Chiang Yee (1903–1977), a Chinese writer, poet, and painter who made his home in London, England during the 1930s and 1940s. It examines Chiang’s relationship with his circle of friends and colleagues in the English capital, and assesses the work he produced during his sojourn there. This edited volume, with contributions from eleven distinguished scholars, tells a story of a Chinese intellectual community in London that up to now has been largely overlooked. It portrays a dynamic picture of the London-based émigré life during the years that led up to the war and during the conflict that was the catalyst for many of them moving on. In addition, the book broadens our understanding of cultural interactions between China and the West in Hampstead, one of the most vibrant artistic communities in London.

The ultimate goal of this thesis is to construct an optimal global portfolio with ETFs. We choose the iShares MSCI country index ETFs as our assets. We start with the calculation of correlation between these countries. We find out that there is potential benefit undertaking international diversification. While comparing with the former research, the potential benefit is smaller. We examine the effect of investing internationally of each country. And we can see that not all countries are benefit from international diversification. While considering international diversification, investors have to look at the characteristic of the domestic country to make decision. In the international level, we can see that the investment risk would decrease and the return would increase. And the marginal effect decreases. In our test, the return, risk and efficiency come stable after adding the 14th asset into the global portfolio. Therefore we construct our global portfolio with 13 assets. We can see

More Than 1001 Days and Nights of Hong Kong Internment is the wartime journal of Sir Chaloner Grenville Alabaster, former attorney-general of Hong Kong and one of the three highest-ranking British officials during the Japanese occupation. He was imprisoned by the Japanese at the Stanley Internment Camp from 1941 to 1945. During his internment, he managed to keep a diary of his life in the camp in small notebooks and hid them until his release in 1945. He then wrote his wartime journal on the basis of these notes. The journal records his day-to-day experiences of the fall of Hong Kong, his time at Stanley, and his eventual release. Some of the most fascinating extracts cover the three months immediately after the fall of Hong Kong and when Alabaster and his colleagues were imprisoned in Prince’s Building in Central and before they were sent to the camp, a period little covered in previous publications. The Many Faces of Ruan Dacheng: Poet, Playwright, Politician in Seventeenth-Century China is the first monograph in English on a controversial Ming dynasty literary figure. It examines and reassesses the life and work of Ruan Dacheng (1587–1646), a poet, dramatist, and politician in the late Ming period. Ruan Dacheng was in his own time a highly regarded poet, but is best known as a dramatist, and his poetry is now largely unknown. He is most notorious as a ‘treacherous official’ of the Ming–Qing transition, and as a result his literary work—his plays as well as his poetry—has been neglected and undervalued. Hardie argues that Ruan’s literary work is of much greater significance in the history of Chinese literature than has generally been recognised since his own time. 1856年10月，廣東水師登上一艘據說掛着英國旗的划艇，拘捕船上中國船員，水師懷疑該船涉及走私和其他不法勾當。英國駐廣州署理領事巴夏禮指中國水師扯下和「侮辱」船上英國旗。自此事件不斷鬧大，最終演化成歐洲列強和美國聯手對付中華帝國的大戰，歷時將近五年。本書是黃宇和院士在其於1998 年由英國劍橋大學出版社出版的名著Deadly Dreams: Opium, Imperialism and the Arrow War (1856-1860) in China 的基礎上，再用了二十多年的時間修訂和增補而成。本書以第二次鴉片戰爭為個案，對中外學術界提出的各種有關戰爭起因的解釋方案作出比較，詳辨其間闕誤及由來，從宏觀和微觀層面，剖析帝國主義的實質本性。作者利用大量中英文原始文獻，結合實地調查，逐層分析引發第二次鴉片戰爭中帝國主義的侵略藉口、悍將心理、外交手段、政治邏輯和運作方式，直趨經濟利益層面，由此展現出英帝國主義為了發動此次侵略戰爭所積極謀劃的每一個步驟，以及背後的動機。

In The Making of Chinese-Sinophone Literatures as World Literature, Kuei-fen Chiu and Yingjin Zhang aim to bridge the distance between the scholarship of world literature and that of Chinese and Sinophone literary studies. 背景 抗微生物藥物是最常被處方予小兒族群的藥物，即使如此，關於微生物抗藥性的研究和用藥評估卻常常未納入小兒族群。過去研究已告訴我們抗微生物藥物的使用和抗藥性有關，但目前小兒族群的感染症致病菌相關的研究，仍僅限於特定的疾病族群或特殊的病房單位，例如血液腫瘤科或加護病房等。小兒族群的感染部位、感染來源和致病菌和成人族群不同，因此建立一套小兒族群的抗藥性監測系統是必要的。近年歐盟兒童抗生素抗藥性及處方計畫(Worldwide Antibiotic Resistance and Prescribing in European Children, ARPEC) 開始關注小兒族群的抗藥性問題，此計畫納入世界各地的醫院並分析抗藥性及處方型態，接著ARPEC計畫衍生至全球層級的GARPEC計畫。台灣尚未建立適用於小兒族群的監測作業流程。 目的 藉由參與GARPEC計畫，本研究目的有二：(1) 分析成大醫院小兒族群抗藥性菌血症的發生率及抗藥性情形；(2) 藉由點盛行率調查 (PPS) 評估成大醫院小兒族群抗微生物藥物處方型態。並且本研究為國內多中心研究的前驅研究。 方法 本研究以前瞻性病歷回顧的試驗設計進行，目的一的收案條件是2016年8月至2017年5月期間，血液培養出指定菌種、18歲以下的住院病患，並且依年齡分組分析病患的基本特性和抗藥性數據。目的二中每月一次PPS的調查期間為2016年1至12月，每個月隨機選出一天為調查日，納入調查日當天有使用抗微生物藥物或前一天有使用手術預防性抗生素的病人，依年齡或病房計算抗微生物藥物處方率，記錄抗微生物藥物處方的相關資訊，包含藥物、劑量、頻次、給藥途徑、適應症等，並且將這些處方依治療原因、感染部位、經驗性治療或確定治療 (definite/targeted therapy) 分類。研究中所有藥物依ATC level 3或4分類。以描述性統計呈現數據，包含次數、百分比、平均和中位數。本研究參與GARPEC計畫，符合該計畫期間的研究數據，去除個資後回報至GARPEC計畫。 結果 研究期間共有45位病人符合研究條件，包含49筆菌株報告，其中 31株 (63.3%) 對至少一種抗生素具有抗藥性。49株菌株中最常出現的是 Salmonella spp. (n=13)，且有85%係從1歲以上菌血症兒童血液培養而得。抗藥性菌株中最常見的是E. co

迴歸分析是一種統計學上分析數據的方法，建立解釋變數與反應變數之間的關聯性。由於現實環境中，所獲得的資料並非都是明確的數值(crisp value)，有些資料本身是模糊的(fuzzy)，致使傳統的分析方法難以使用。為了處理這類型的資料，Zadeh學者在1965年提出模糊理論(Fuzzy set theory)，將不確定性表達於資料型態上，許多學者遂將迴歸分析方法擴展至模糊環境中，做更廣泛的應用。此外，直覺式模糊集合(Intuitionistic fuzzy sets, IFS)為模糊理論之延伸，在歸屬度函數外，加入非歸屬度函數來衡量，因此直覺式模糊集合能表達更多資訊，較貼近於現實環境。本研究根據直覺式模糊集合與模糊迴歸理論，建立直覺式模糊迴歸模型，並利用兩階段法進行求解。 本研究採用迴歸係數為明確值、解釋變數與反應變數為直覺式模糊數(Intuitionistic fuzzy number, IFN)的迴歸估計式。由於所求解的迴歸係數為明確數值，可以獲得解釋變數與反應變數之間的確切關係，提供決策者更明確的決策資訊。本研究在前置階段會先取得直覺式模糊資料。然後是求解階段，採用兩階段法，第一階段先對原始直覺式模糊資料做解模糊化(defuzzified)，轉換成一組明確資料，接著將該資料做傳統最小平方法，求得一組明確的迴歸係數估計值；第二階段，在最小化總誤差量的目標下，根據距離測度建立一個數學規劃(mathematical programming)模型，並使用Arefi and Taheri學者在2015年所提出之範例，在反應變數觀察值與估計值差距最小的目標下，求解直覺式模糊調整變數(Intuitionistic fuzzy adjustment variable)，以減少模糊估計誤差。模式建構完成後，進行誤差值的分析評估，相較於舊有文獻之方法，本研究模型的誤差衡量指標有更理想的表現；而在模型的穩健度上，本研究之模式透過交叉驗證(cross-validation)後所得的結果，可以驗證明此方法之合理性。
