The Power of the Image ― Emotion, Expression, Explanation

This collection of essays is the fourth in a series based on a sequence of yearly conferences organized by the Visual Learning Lab at Budapest University of Technology and Economics. The book’s 20 edited papers (from the November 2013 conference) are grouped in sections on icons to diagrams, image and text, art and expression, images and emerging media, and face to face communication. Some specific areas explored include infographics from a linguistic point of view, symbolization in children’s art, attitudes toward Google Glass, and pictorial and textual communication within citizen journalism on social media. Andras Benedek is Professor and Head at the Department of Technical Education, Budapest University of Technology and Economics. He has published several papers on human resource development issues.
Kristof Nyiri is Professor of Philosophy at the same Department. His main fields of research are the philosophy of images and the philosophy of time.
