Sheri Khan Tarakai and Early Village Life in the Borderlands of North-West Pakistan:Bannu Archaeological Project Surveys and Excavations 1985-2001

Others volumes will follow this first of a series reporting on the research project carried out between 1985 and 2001, in the Bannu basin region, in what was then the North West Frontier Province of Pakistan, now the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. The Bannu Archaeological Project was collaborative, involving the University of Peshawar, the British Museum, and the University College of London, among other entities. Coverage beings with description of early village life in the region and discussion of the research questions, parameters, goals, and approach of the project. The specifics of the finds are grouped in sections on ceramic vessels struck lithics, small finds, and biological remains. Other chapters discuss physical and human geography, chronology, and differences in various regions. The appendices include reports presenting petrographic and pigment analysis of pottery and pottery comparisons, tables of faunal data, and identification of wood charcoals submitted for radiocarbon dating.
