Encyclopedia of Sustainability ─ Ecosystems Management and Sustainability

Ecosystem management is the theme of this fifth volume of a ten-volume reference. The aim is to present a wide-ranging, interdisciplinary resource for students (high school and above) as well as general readers and professionals seeking broad knowledge of the many-faceted topic of sustainability. The reader's guide in the front matter groups articles according to the following themes: biodiversity and species interaction, concepts and theories, human interaction and impact, practices and tools. Roughly 90 alphabetically arranged entries represent the efforts of seven editors and co-editors, an advisory board, and a long list of contributing authors. Entries are signed and include references and cross references. A sampling of topics: agroecology, biodiversity hotspots, charismatic megafauna, complexity theory, dam removal, ecological forecasting, nitrogen saturation, plant-animal interactions, reforestation, species introduction, and waste management, among others.
