商品簡介
In 428, less than a generation after they had arrived in Spain, a group of Vandals and their allies crossed into Mauretania Caesariensis and began establishing German states in Northern Africa. About the same time, the loosening of imperial control in the mountains enabled the native Moors and Berbers to strengthen their semi-autonomous polities. The first group was evicted by the Byzantine reconquest in 534, and the second overwhelmed a century later by the Arab conquest. It is this sliver of history, overlooked by most, that German, British, and American scholars examine here, looking at African identities, written culture, and the African church in context.
