商品簡介
Paul Chandler (natural resources and environmental management, Ball State U.) has spent much of his career conducting field research in isolated rural locales. In this text for students, academics, and interested general readers, he presents an account of some efforts to improve the circumstances of the developing world's poor and shares what he learned from his contact with two unique peasant cultures. The first part of the text focuses on China's indigenous system of timber management. The second half explores the reasons why some poor Brazilians have chosen not to participate in a rural assistance program. Annotation c2006 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
