商品簡介
In January of 2000, the Chicago Housing Authority released the final version of its "Plan for Transformation," which will result in the demolition of many of the CHA's clustered "projects" and the construction of new buildings that are to be components of "mixed-income" developments, requiring the displacement of some 6000 families. Bringing together contributions from public housing activists, policy experts, and academic scholars, Bennett (political science, DePaul U.), Smith (codirector, Nathalie P. Voorees Center for Neigborhood and Community Improvement at the U. of Illinois at Chicago), and Wright (retired director of the Voorhees Center) present 11 papers that examine the "Plan for Transformation," it's likely impact on low-income families, and the way that redevelopment and resident dispersal are likely to reshape urban neighborhoods.
