商品簡介
A study of how German Jewish refugee cattle dealers came to dominate cattle dealing in south-central New York and how they maintained their Jewish identity in a rural Christian environment. The study pays particular attention to the unique role that women played in managing the transition to the US, helping their husbands accumulate capital, and recreating a German Jewish community. Material draws on interviews with 24 men and 19 women, and incorporates original research in the American Jewish Archives at Brandeis University. Includes b&w historical photos.
