Picone Institute for Applied Mathematics, Bari, Italy) text dealt with the general properties and mathematical structures of semi-separable matrices, the second volume focuses on the theory of structured eigenvalue and singular value computations for semiseparable matrices. The text is written from a numerical linear algebra viewpoint, so attention is paid to the structure of the matrices involved, the computational complexity, convergence analysis, and numerical stability. The bulk of the text covers the development of implicit QR-algorithms for special classes of structured rank matrices, followed by chapters on generalizations and miscellaneous topics, and orthogonal (rational) functions.
