Born in 1840 in Sheperdstown, West Virginia (then Virginia), Henry Kyd Douglas was the youngest member of Stonewall Jackson's staff. Despite being wounded six times, Douglas survived the war and became a prominent figure in Maryland politics. He died in 1903.
