Matecumbe

Set in the dissimilar worlds of cold, suburban Pennsylvania and the subtropical climes of the Florida Keys, Matecumbe explores the bonds of a mother and daughter across distance and time. Abandoned by her husband, Mary Ann Mays struggles to raise four young daughters. As a single mother facing untold hardships, poverty, and loneliness, Mary Ann often flounders, but her daughters and a newfound hope keep her spirit alive.
Years later, Melissa Tomlinson's thirteen-year marriage ends in divorce, and she heads to Matecumbe - two islands located halfway between Miami and Key West - where she can regroup from the disappointment of perceived failures. Surrounded on all sides by the warm waters of oblivion, Melissa discovers a burning ember of what might yet be love.
As their lives unfold in striking parallel, Mary Ann and Melissa discover that family, love, and perseverance conquer all, despite the tricks and twists of fortune.
