On February 4th, 1999, 23-year-old Guinean immigrant Amadou Diallo was returning home from work to his Bronx apartment when four officers of New York City's Street Crimes Unit, after confusing him for an at-large serial rapist, gunned him down in a hail of 41 bullets under contested circumstances.
