商品簡介
The late Jwaideh (formerly of the department of Near Eastern languages and literatures at Indiana U.) wrote this study of the emergence and development of the Kurdish nationalist movement as his Syracuse University doctoral dissertation in 1960 and, although it acquired a reputation as a valuable contribution to Kurdish studies within the field, it remained unpublished until the appearance of this volume. The study chronologically follows developments from the suppression of semiautonomous regions in the Ottoman Empire of the 19th century, through World War I and the Kurdish rebellions of the 1930s and 40s, to the establishment and fall of the short-lived Kurdish Republic of Mahabad. Jwaideh's main concerns in the study revolved around the relative strength of the Kurdish nationalist movement and its relations to international politics in the Middle East.
