Late Egyptian Grammar ─ An Introduction

Junge (Egyptology, University of Gottingen) presents an instruction manual for Late Egyptian, the language of the New Kingdom, principally the Ramessid Period (ca. 1350-1000 BCE), similar to textbooks used for introductory courses in Middle Egyptian. Designed for students who already have a grasp of Middle Egyptian, coverage includes the orthography and writing system, morphosyntactic features, sentence conjugations and simple sentences, the nominal sentence, clause conjugations and complex sentence forms, and complex sentences and simple clause groupings. The English translation of the second German edition (1999, Otto Harrassowitz Verlag, Wiesbaden) makes the work available to a wider audience. In this latest edition, Junge has made numerous corrections to the text and has incorporated points raised by reviewers. Translated by David Warburton.
