The work is composed of articles--rather than shorter entries--with each article discussing an issue, concept, geographical feature, or tool at some length (3-8 pages) and concluding with bibliography and list of web sites. Groups of articles are devoted to the issues and policies of the US and China, respectively. Each article contains inset boxes of essential vocabulary with lengthy definitions.
