Russell Jacoby is the author of seven previous books, including The Last Intellectuals and The End of Utopia. He has published articles and reviews in Harper's Magazine, the Los Angeles Times, The Nation, and elsewhere. He teaches history at UCLA and lives in Los Angeles.
