商品簡介
As the contributors have mostly backgrounds in environmental and food areas rather than microbiology or pathology, the focus of this collection is not so much on the bacteria themselves as their presence, prevalence, spread, and impact in the human world, including their use as indicators of contamination in water and food. The anthology provides a broad understanding and appreciation of the fecal bacteria in terms of their taxonomy, relation to the physiology and anatomy of the host animal, ecology, and use in water quality and food safety issues. Among the topics are the gut as the fecal environment, animals and humans as sources of fecal indicator bacteria, modeling fate and transport of fecal bacteria in surface water, classical and molecular methods to measure fecal bacteria, and fecal bacteria and foods.
