Latifi (surgery, U. of Arizona) presents 26 papers that he hopes will serve as a collective "how-to guide" on the implementation of modern health information systems and tele-medicine technologies in developing countries. The papers are organized into section examining historical background; organizational issues; infrastructure and other requirements for tele-medicine and tele-health, evidence based clinical applications, education and distance learning, "new frontiers" for applications, and recent initiatives in virtual education.
