商品簡介
Reventlow's (emeritus Old Testament exegesis and theology, U. of the Ruhr, Germany) four-volume series Epochen der Bibelauslegung was published during the 1990s by Verlag C.H. Beck, Munich. Theodore of Mospuestia, as representative of famous biblical interpreters of late antiquity, begins this second volume, and is quickly joined by Jerome, Ambrose, and Augustine along with others. Other sections cover mediators between antiquity and the Middle Ages moving from Gregory the Great and Isidore of Seville in the south to Bede, Alcuin, and John Scotus in the north. Bible and theology and Jewish interpreters of the Middle Ages include Abelard, Thomas Aquinas, Bonaventure, Rashi, and Abraham ibn Ezra under Arabic influence. The late-medieval end comes with Nicholas of Lyra learning from the Jews, and John Wyclif's Bible. Society of Biblical Literature publishes the paperback edition; Brill publishes the hardback.
