商品簡介
This collection constitutes an important resource for policy makers and analysts involved with international affairs. The introductory article explains why a communicative approach to unification and transitional justice is needed; the concluding article discusses modernization and the future of East Asia. Both were written by editor Sang-Jin (sociology, Seoul National U., South Korea; visiting professor, Beijing U., China). He served under Kim Dae-jung (d.1999): president of South Korea 1998-2003, and awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace in 2000. This volume presents 12 articles written by Dae-jung; three by Richard von WeizsA?cker, former president of the Federal Republic of Germany (1984-1994); and another 15 by scholars based in Germany, Japan, and Australia. A small sampling of topics: the dreams of divided countries (Germany and Korea), Germany and Japan 50 years after the end of their imperial ambitions, Japan's pathway to imperial power, the Tokyo Trials, Germany as a model for Japan, Chinese and Southeast Asian perspectives on Japan, and transitional justice on the atomic bombing of Hiroshima.
