This book is intended as a resource for classroom teachers as they align their own tests and quizzes with the content and format expected of state and district standards-based curricula. It demonstrates 10 basic steps for constructing assessments in alignment with a standards-based curriculum. The book shows how to create effective select-response test questions, such as multiple-choice items, as well as supply-response items, such as short answer questions and essay prompts. It also shows how to create scoring rubrics to assess supply-response items, and how to use the results from assessments to support student learning through feedback.
